María Elena Torrado de Domínguez fue una de las fundadoras de la Asociación Civil y la única que vive.
Durante 15 años fuimos acariciando la idea de la fundación de una casa para acoger a aquellas exalumnas que llegaran solas a la tercera edad.

Por fin en el año 1978 las Religiosas del Sagrado Corazón (de nuestro colegio) nos informaron que iban a vender las instalaciones del convento que se ubicaban atrás del colegio. Eran 15000 metros de terreno y había habitaciones pequeñas que contaban con baños generales. Reunían todas las expectativas de la ASOCIACIÓN para realizar el proyecto tantos años acariciado.

Estuvimos varios meses en pláticas con las Religiosas y acordaron venderlo a TECHO, EDUCACIÓN Y AYUDA, A.C., se firmó el contrato de promesa de compraventa el 12 de agosto de 1980

Al ver realizado nuestro proyecto se vio la necesidad de abrirlo, no sólo a exalumnas sino también a mujeres solas, del mismo nivel sociocultural.

¿Pero quien iba a estar al frente de la Residencia?, providencialmente nos pusieron en contacto con las RELIGIOSAS ANGELICAS, orden española que se dedica a atender a señoras en soledad. Vino la Madre Vicenta Fernández del Moral, Superiora General a conocernos y a ver el proyecto y aceptó enviar una comunidad de cuatro Religiosas que estarían al frente de las Residencia y desde entonces el alma y el carisma que tienen es el éxito de RESIDENCIA MATER MR, nombre que le pusimos en memoria de MATER ADMIRABILIS (Patrona de nuestro Colegio).

En febrero de 1981 abrió sus puertas la Residencia Mater estando al frente de la Directiva Elena White de la Peña y como Tesorera y administradora María Elena Torrado de Domínguez.

Iniciamos con 48 habitaciones gracias a un donante crecimos a 60 primero con 12 suites después a 130 con una Torre y en 1990 iniciamos una ampliación de 48 habitaciones más, en 2006 inauguramos la Unidad Geriátrica “Santa Genoveva Torres Morales” con 12 habitaciones más de cuidados especializados, lo que da un total de 192 habitaciones todas con su baño privado.

Hoy Agosto de 2007, inauguramos un Salón de Usos Múltiples “Mater Admirabilis” para 250 personas y un estacionamiento para 50 automóviles.

Agradecemos a las Religiosas Angélicas estos 25 años de entrega y dedicación a las señoras. Han pasado 4 Superioras y varias Religiosas, queremos nombrar especialmente a la M. Victorina Matamala que es la única que ha estado con nosotros los 24 años y que ha sido un pilar y un ejemplo a seguir en todos estos años, dedicada a las señoras en soledad a las cuales acogemos sin tomar en cuenta su edad y a las cuales cuiden hasta su fallecimiento con cariño y una entrega loable.

Creo que el ver la Capilla del que fue nuestro colegio con Eucaristía diaria y teniendo un culto por parte de las Religiosas Angélicas y de las Residentes nos llena de satisfacción a las exalumnas que nos apoyaron y siguen trabajando por el éxito de Residencia Mater, MR.

In 1964 the Association of alumnae from the College of the Sacred Heart of Mexico City, founded TECHO, EDUCACIÓN Y AYUDA, A.C. (ROOF, EDUCATION and HELP, AC) Civic Association which has among its objectives "FOUND, BUILD AND MANAGE THE HOUSE OF THE ASSOCIATION."

Maria Elena Torrado de Dominguez was a founder member of the Civic Association and the only living. For 15 years we were caressing the idea in the foundation of a house to accommodate those alumnae arrived alone for the elderly.

But, who was going to be in front of the residence?, Providentially, we contacted the RELIGIOUS ANGELICAS, Spanish order that is dedicated to caring for ladies in solitude. Then Mother Vicenta Fernandez del Moral, General Superior knew and saw about the project and agreed to send four-Religious community that would be at the front of the residence and since then the soul and charisma they have is the success of RESIDENCE MATER MR name that we memory ADMIRABILIS MATER (patron of our College).

In February 1981 opened its doors, Residence Mater remain at the forefront of the directive Elena White de la Peña and as Treasurer and administrator Maria Elena Torrado of Dominguez.

We thank the Religious Angélicas these 25 years of commitment and dedication to the ladies. It has been 4 and several Religious Superiors, we want especially to appoint M. Victorina Matamala which is the only one that has been with us 24 years and has been a pillar and an example to be followed in all these years, dedicated to the ladies in solitude without which we take into account their age and which care until his death with affection and shipment laudable.

I think the view of the chapel which was our college with daily Eucharist and taking a cult by the Religious Angélicas and the Residents fills us with satisfaction the exalumnas who supported us and continue to work for the success of Residence Mater, MR.
